Brazilian designer Sandra Arruda releases her Collection "Brasilidade"

The concept of the Collection "Brasilidade", of the designer Sandra Arruda, is to synthesize the style simple of the history of Brazilian furniture with a contemporary reinterpretation of materials that interpret the culture of the country.

It innovates by presenting the Rubber Tree wood, an environmentally sustainable alternative in furniture manufacturing; a wood resulting from the use of cultivated trees, which in the end of the production cycle of latex, with about 35 years old, are cut. Of Amazonian origin, the "Hevea brasiliensis" features a durable light colored wood that in this collection is used in its natural color, painted and dyed in brown. Inspired by Brazilian raw materials the collection also provide straw of cotton fiber, copper, stainless steel and linen.

An exclusive line of printed fabrics inspired by Brazilian artist Alfredo Volpi, complete the collection. Some of the collection fabrics were choosen as finalists in a design competition in Berlin.

Meet Sandra Arruda´s nprofile, The designer behind the Peça Única´s brand.

Sandra Arruda has been active as a designer and businesswoman in the world of furniture and interior design since 1987, when she founded Peça Única Mobília, now a benchmark brand in the development and consolidation of design culture in Brazil. Her background in Sociology, Ceramic, Set Design, Drawing, Graphite and Design Management, a fusion of various fields of design, qualifies her as a process manager of changing and innovation, an innate work to the very history of the company she founded, and still runs today.

The designer shows her concept through exclusive pieces, in the early 2000s, the Genius armchair, one of the brand´s flagship products, was chosen to furnish Meliá hotel chain. This was the time when the Sao Paulo-based designer, embarked on her long and highly successful venture in the corporate and hotel sectors. Her current portfolio features customers such as Nespresso, Santander Van Gogh, HSBC, Accor and Orient Express.

In Sandra's point of view, contemporary design must combine creativity and aesthetics to fundamental values such as comfort and personality.
